Home Nursing Care is on the Rise

Files under Health and Fitness | Posted by admin

Home or private nursing jobs are jobs in which nurses provide care to patients who for whatever reason are homebound. Private nurses offer their patients health care services and assistance in their own homes while they are unable to care for themselves. Often family members do what they can but find they become overwhelmed. Generally the home nurse is only needed for two to three days a week. Home care nurses will care for patients with many different needs. Elderly patients make up the vast majority of patients requiring home treatment. Others may include people who are recovering from a serious illness or accident but do not need to be hospitalized.

Responsibilities of a private nurse are not restricted to specialized patient care, often supporting or helping the affected family may be required. This may include helping patients with things like shopping, cooking, cleaning, bathing, along with the expected services like dispensing medication, checking blood pressure, changing bandages, and report being regularly to the attending physician. Parents of disabled children often times will hire a private nurse to give their child the extra care and attention they require. Perhaps the biggest reason for the rise in private home care is the recent Alzheimer s disease problem in the United States. Patients with Alzheimer s disease eventually require constant supervision and assistance as the disease deteriorates not only the brain but the body as well. Private nurses are often treated as close friends of the family. Some private nurses are provided with living quarters in the home of the patient so that they may be close at all times.

Home nurses are in demand today more than ever. With the rise in availability of jobs for private nurses so too came a rise in the number of employment agencies who offer the services. Private nursing care agencies sometimes offer jobs to nurses to care for and entire family. The majority of nursing agencies providing private home care are certified through Medicare.

The requirements for a career in home nursing very but usually require specialized training related to home care. The demand for in home private nurses is so high today that employment agencies offer huge bonuses to nurses who choose to work for them.
